MPC CELEBRATES 25 YEARS

March, 2010 marked 25 years since the official opening of MPC taking place in Orlando, Florida.

The journey has been interesting with "roosters" or the successful films, television programs and event campaigns produced. Of course, we've also seen our share of "train wreaks" over these years, most a real learning experience. But to say the least, its been a good ride!

Now, a new chapter is on slate to be written. MPC is moving forward with the development of a mini-studio. We think we can do it better, so "we're putting our money where are month is".

The situations our client base has taken us, prepared the company to (as our old client coined the phase) 'do it right the first time'. We had the opportunity to work with Phil Crosby the corporate philosophy leader and teacher who made many national and international companies get back on track. PCA taught us through our producing of their many corporate teaching films, how to correctly handle business details creating an environment that leads to success.

Disney and their brand, whipped us into shape with the opening of several theme parks and marketing campaigns that entered households around the globe, not to mention television specials, motion pictures and Disney's own television content. MPC partnered with the "mouse" providing the very best motion picture equipment to filmmakers and establishing MPC as a leader (in the day) representing the biggest manufactures around the world.

It wasn't just the equipment or clients that 'put us on the map'... it was all the people who worked for MPC over the years. MPC respects those individuals for their dedication and hard efforts in making it work. The company wants thank them and we know many have moved on to successful careers in the industry. Nancy Flesher, MPC wants to thank you for supporting us for some 20+ years and your continued effort to the companies financial well being.

MPC has created a web page with our overview of the past 25 years. Please click on this web link to read about the old and see the new!

MPC GETS MULTIYEAR CONTRACT

The Motion Picture Co. Inc. has participated in aggressive negotiations with the Eden-Barns Foundation to develop and produce all domestic and international film projects for the company. The Carson City, Nevada based corporation approached MPC to consult and handle their international deployment of projects in the U.S. and China.

The proposed production projects will be managed by MPC from conception to distribution. The documentary style productions will allow MPC to open staff positions in the Orlando office, but is not clear what effect or involvement the Burbank office will see at this time.

"We believe this will increase our commitment in hiring qualified personnel in areas that are most effected", said MPC Chairman John Cummings. The contracts will become effective in early 2010. Funding arrangements for each of the projects are currently under review by both companies.

MPC AND SPI CREATE MANUFACTURING DIVISION

BURBANK:

The prototype unit has exceeded hundreds of test hours successfully performing delicate shooting technics. Modifications and new world engineering were tested for a global application. At a time when motion picture and series development has become popular in most countries, equipment development has shifted to HD-Cinema chips and high-end electronics. Creative tools are still essential to the film making process on-location. The Mobile Camera Crane offers the high end users with larger budget productions a well engineered tool designed by industry professionals.

The manufacturing of new units are expected to begin sometime in late second or early third quarter 2009. SPI and MPC are looking at several opportunities outside of Hollywood to assemble the units. A price tag of $400,000.00 has been talked about, but a firm figure will be announced closer to the start of production. Financial arrangements are currently underway.

The latest development of creative tools introduced is the revolutionary "STEADI-FLYER". The STEADI-FLYER® is a well designed secured rig extension for Steadicam operators which allows a 35 foot lens height at the top of the arm to ground level and safety secured walk off. The extent of engineering was concentrated on the counter balance and rapid weight displacement recovery. Three safety mechanisms assure a safe walk off for the most creative of shots. For more information on the SPI Mobile Camera Crane and the new STEADI-FLYER® contact MPC and visit our "Equipment" page or click here.

SPI and marketing partner MPC have agreed to expand the manufacturing and worldwide sales of the first modern environmentally and user safe motion picture Mobile Camera Crane.

MPC CELEBRATES 24 YEARS

The Motion Picture Company, Inc. is celebrating 24 years March 26, 2009. The company is proud of our many accomplishments, personnel (past and present) and future growth.

"I was sitting in my New York office thinking how I could better service the expanding production market of Orlando...after a few conversations with colleagues, MPC was born", company Founder John Cummings recalls. "The company grew, thanks to our strong relationship with the Walt Disney Company and a huge amount of production they planned at the parks. I had a great run with them and MPC continued to learn and grow, it was a great privilege to be considered part of their team. From there, we just kept expanding our equipment line, developing more projects and learning the skill of acting not reacting".

MPC is now producing its owned scripts and projects. The company is expanding client relations and creating a Mini-Studio rolling all projects under one roof. The future is bright MPC spirit enthusiastic and ready to begin our first major motion picture. For more information, please contact MPC.

MPC DEVELOPS CAMERA LENS RAIN SHIELD

Burbank: MPC has concluded initial field tests of the "MPC LENS RAIN SHIELD". The "LRSx1" development began a few years ago to safeguard lenses against weather conditions, allowing ENG shooters to continue during rain.

"An annoying picture is when viewer watch a weather report during a rain storm and all they see is rain drops hitting the lens, I wanted to eliminate those annoying drops. When I worked on live events, weather conditions would unexpectedly change, shooters would bag the cameras, but the lens hung out and caught every rain drop", inventor John Cummings said.

Engineering using a conventional approach was attempted and failed. More sophisticated concepts were too cumbersome and expensive. Once, unconventional approaches were adapted the concept worked. The concept is simple, basic and most importantly, inexpensive compared to other camera related equipment at a price tag below $50.00. "I'd like to see every shooter have the LRSx1 in their camera bags, when it rains, attach the simple system to the lens and continue to shoot", Cummings commented.

LRSx1 test continues, adapting the system to longer lenses with applications for sport. MPC hopes to have all the manufacturing and packaging concluded to introduce the system for marketing and sale at CES or NAB '09.

DAVID WINANS II, JOINS "TAKE MY HAND" TEAM

Burbank: Internationally known music artist, David Winans II, of the famous Gospel Family, “The Winans”, has joined MPC, Inc. and TMH Productions LLC. Mr. Winans will cohost and act as a judge on a new television series developed by MPC from the "Open Gospel Auditions", soon to take place in Detroit.

MPC producers believe a search for new talent outside of Hollywood is equally important, giving singers and unknown talented artist a chance to be in an historic motion picture and further their careers.

Known for his Gospel, Blues and Jazz background, Mr. Winans was guitarist on the Families Grammy winning, "Let My People Go" album. David has been a part of the entertainment business and Gospel world since a small boy, when he played with his family in the early days, then called "The Winanaires".

MPC and TMH Productions, LLC, are producing a historic motion picture based on the evolution of Gospel music, from the Blues to the Good News. The story surrounds the most prolific composer and lyricist of that time, Professor Thomas A. Dorsey, known as the “Father of Gospel Music”.

MPC PREPARES SHOOT

Orlando/Burbank: As the Motion Picture Co. Inc. prepares to produce a major feature film, locations and state incentives must prove worthy. Recently, company executives have completed a "due diligence" tour of several cities. "In this phase of the pre-production process, Michigan and the City of Detroit are the most favorable", MPC producer and founder, John Cummings commented. "Michigan's incentive is very appealing, helping us get a jump start on this project".

MPC reported the most favorable location for the period film is Detroit. In the reported, many building and interiors have been preserved since the early 20th century. "Its as if you're walking back in time, Detroit truly has many 'jewels' which adds to the authenticity of the film, not just a reproduction on a Hollywood sound stage or back lot...I'm thrilled and ready to get started", said Cummings.

The script, titled "Take My Hand", is based on the evolution of Gospel Music and its principle promoter, composer/arranger Thomas A. Dorsey, known as the "Father of Gospel Music". The theatrical motion picture takes audiences through the challenges Dorsey and others experienced, introducing the "12-bar-blues" form of music into churches. "Other motion pictures have inaccurately portrayed this form of music being introduced during the 1950's, but research clearly proves this style of music was developed as early as 1917", Cummings added. In addition to classic gospel music throughout this compelling film, audiences will gain insight with Dorsey's struggles, the discovery of Mahalia Jackson, James Cleveland and other gospel greats.

The film is slated for a late August principle photography start date. Theatrical release is tentatively scheduled for 2010, television licensing is currently be discussed and a stage production is also in the works. For additional information contact MPC.
